The Overhalls (were!) in Chile
Chris and Stef Overhall, and their three children Eli, Theo and Nate, are some of our CMS link missionaries. They have been serving the Lord in Santiago, Chile, where Chris has been teaching the MOCLAM course to Christians in Latin America (via Zoom when necessary!) and also teaching at the Anglican Ministry Training College in Santiago. Stef, Chris and their kids were all set to fly out of Chile ‘round the world’ to Australia on the 7th of July. They were looking forward to seven months of home assignment, reconnecting with family, friends and their link churches, such as us here at Jannali.
But as we all know, nothing these days is certain. We make plans, but at the last minute they change. And, if you saw the video that was posted in the weekly encouragement video a few weeks ago, you would have heard that the Overhalls plans have changed too. The first leg of their journey was cancelled, which meant that the subsequent connecting flights had to be cancelled as well. Having said their good-byes and packed up their home, all of a sudden they weren’t going anywhere for another two months!
They write, “We’re disappointed with these changes but continue to wait on God and his timing as we hold our plans loosely. We really value your prayers during this time of change and uncertainty. We know God is in control and trust in his fatherly care.
As Christians, in Jesus, we have … a hope that speaks to us at all times and especially as we face the big problems of the world. Jesus conquered the grave and finished the work of saving us from our sins. In him we have a hope in any and every situation of our lives.”
Thankfully, CMS have managed to book another sequence of flights for the family, via the USA, leaving on 30th August. After this, they will have 2 weeks of hotel quarantine in Sydney.
Please continue to pray for Chris and Stef and their kids, as they live in ‘limbo’ whilst waiting to return to Sydney.
Please pray;
- For godliness and their faith in God, trusting in His plan for this phase of their lives.
- That the new plans and flights that have been arranged do go ahead this time.
- For their families and loved ones here in Australia, who also have to wait to reconnect with them.
- For their patience and love for each other as they spend another two months of COVID living in Santiago.
