Kids Church Returns

Leah Blake   -

Never before have I been so excited to pack my car!  On Saturday afternoon and Sunday mornings, I am filling my car full of toys, books, pool noodles, boxes, packets of chips and cleaning supplies with a big smile on my face because Kids Church has re-started. For the past three weeks, we have run a program for preschool and school aged children at 5:00 – 6:30 pm on Saturdays and from last week, 8:45 – 10:15 am on Sundays at the Jannali Uniting Church.

For both leaders and kids alike, it’s been a real joy to meet back together. Kids church looks similar to what to has in the past as we have play games, pray, learn memory verses, share supper or morning tea together and most importantly, hear from God’s word. This term we are teaching from the book of Acts and seeing what Jesus did through his Spirit and his friends after he ascended into heaven.

Of course, there have been some adjustments to Kids Church so that it can operate in a COVID-safe way. The leadership team of Saturday and Sunday have worked well together to incorporate new cleaning routines and maintain social distancing for adults.

As children have come back, not only have they grown in height, but they have grown spiritually whilst their parents were teaching them at home.  For all of us it’s been a time of mutual encouragement, as we have seen each other’s faith (Romans 1:12).  Yet, we are also missing those of us who haven’t yet been able to return. Pray with us thanking God for the opportunity to meet again and for Kids Church to be a blessing to everyone who comes.
