Miriam Bradshaw in Valencia

Neil Fitzpatrick   -

Miriam is one of our CMS link missionaries and has been in Valencia Spain since January 2020, spending the majority of her time learning language and culture.  Valencia has experienced lockdowns, but despite quite a few cases it was lifted at Easter, making life easier.

She is at language school 5 days a week for 4 hours but informally spending time with people from church is a great help to her language progress.

Miriam has been helping with a local church initiative called ‘Mision Urbana’ similar to Anglicare, shopping, ringing the bank, figuring out how to approach a neighbour about a problem, all these activities are introducing her to people and the culture.

In the months ahead Miriam is hoping to spend more time with ‘Mision Urbana’ helping out where needed and looking for opportunities to share Jesus with people who come for food and clothing and also with the other volunteers.

Miriam would appreciate prayer for Christians in Spain as there is little in the way of discipleship in churches and not much solid, mutually sharpening Christian friendships.  It makes it hard for new Christians to persevere and there is little desire for evangelism.

Please pray for Miriam

  • Give thanks for Miriam’s increasing confidence in speaking Spanish and for her commitment to proclaiming Jesus to a people who have not had the opportunities we have in our church.
  • Give thanks that language school has been a real benefit, giving structure and increasing confidence in speaking with people.
  • Pray for further progress in language.
  • Pray for God to use her in the local church, particularly as she takes up ministry with a small group of teenagers – seeking to motivate them to read the Bible and invite friends to church/youth group.
