There is a secret that people may not know. A powerhouse of godliness and enquiring minds meets at the beginning of the week during school terms. In ‘fear and trepidation’ I visited this group last term and answered some questions and was blown away by what they were learning and how they support each other.
Over thirty women from three congregations gather on Mondays at 10am to pray and learn from God’s word. In 2016 they have looked at Mark’s Gospel, Minor Prophets, Philippians, women in the Bible and so much more.
Creche is organised and the younger babies can come along too. There are dozens of preschool kids around. However, you don’t have to have young kids. You don’t have to have any kids. You don’t have to be married. You just have to be a woman who is keen to learn from God’s word and support each other. The more people from different stages of life, the better, says my wife. At the moment they even have a group for beginners. You don’t have to know your way around every nook and cranny of the Bible.
Why would I write a spotlight on this group now, as the year is winding up? A few reasons. I would like you:
- to thank God for these women and their leaders in particular.
- to thank God for those who come in and help out with creche.
- to ponder whether you, or a woman you know, could re-arrange her schedule in 2017 to be a part of this group. Sometimes that is not easy, but I think it is worth it. I know for my wife it is one of the highlights of her week.
Mondays at 10-11:30am @ Church. During School Term
