In four weeks time a team of 10 members from our church will head to Mexico, flying out on April 5th. Over the past few months we’ve been meeting regularly and emailing the Sholls to plan what we’ll be doing while in Monterrey. The team consists of Barry Steele, Berlinda Steele, Cameron Hyslop, Rowena Hiller, Tim Steele, Georgia Allen, Jackson Walker, Kathryn Steele, Rebecca Steele and Michael Steele.
There are four main activities in our two week stay, as well as the Easter church services at the Sholl’s church
1. Formando Lideres – Forming Leaders
A 3-day training workshop for young / future leaders. We will be working with them on basic bible skills, with the aim of helping them to be able participate in, develop questions for and lead a bible study group.
2. Sunday School Leaders
A 1-day workshop with Sunday School leaders aiming to grow their knowledge of the bible’s big picture and provide ideas for how to present to kids. Craft, skits, puppetry, storyboard/sketching and memory verses are some of the things we’ll be working on.
3. Evangelistic Event
Easter Saturday evening will see us working with the Formando Lideres group to put on an outreach event for the youth of the area. Cameron has been asked to give the talk with a call to repentance and faith. Our Lideres group will be doing discussion groups as part of the evening. There will also be games, food and singing – of course.
4. Possible Pastor’s Breakfast
We hope to talk about the importance of equipping and giving the saints opportunities to serve and grow.
What to Pray for?
Our bonding and teamwork – that we would work with and trust each other and each play our part.
Our fears – that we would trust that God will work his plan through us and that he is able to use us to be benefit to the church in Monterrey
Our growth – that we would be teachable, learning from each other and our brothers and sisters in Mexico
Our preparation – for good ideas and planning over our remaining month. Please pray that we would be organised and committed to the tasks that need to be done
