This weekend we are taking a group of 25 senior high students to the annual KYCK convention at Katoomba.
The theme of the weekend is “Out of This World” and the talks will work through the book of 1 Peter. There are 6 sessions during the course of the weekend with three speakers each giving two 25 min talks.
KYCK is the largest annual convention at Katoomba, operating over three consecutive weekends with about 6,000 young people attending.
One of our girls will be doing the Bible reading at the Friday night session in front of 2,000 people and Cameron will be interviewed at the first Saturday morning session as he will be taking on the role of spiritual parent for the weekend. That means being available to speak with any youth who want to talk about the Bible, their faith and or any struggles they are facing to live for Jesus.
We will be staying in the camping ground which is only minutes from the main auditorium. The forecast is for a little bit of rain and 7-16 oC.
On the Saturday night each year there is an evangelistic talk with a call for response, So far at the first two weekends of KYCK 18 there have been 65 youth who prayed to become Christians and 298 youth who have prayed to recommit their lives to following Jesus.
Please pray that the third weekend of KYCK 18 will continue to reap a harvest of young people for Jesus.
Later on the Saturday night we will have a discussion and prayer time in our campsite. Last year was a great encouragement for all the leaders with everyone wanting to pray in a prayer time that went for about 45minutes.
We would value prayers for the following things:
- Safe travel to and from Katoomba.
- Reasonable weather.
- Good relationships in our group.
- Excellent talks from 1 Peter.
- Significant growth in the spiritual lives of those who attend.
- That Cameron would be useful in helping those who need to talk.
