Over 500 schools & churches – including Jannali Anglican – are involved in Kids Hope, Australia’s largest early intervention, school-based mentoring program. Did you know that since 2011 our church has been providing caring mentors for vulnerable kids at Jannali Public School? The school nominates the kids they believe would most benefit from the program, and each child is matched with a volunteer mentor. The mentors visit the school for an hour each week at a time convenient for them, and spend time doing various academic & fun activities – with the goal of developing a caring relationship with their special child. The children in the program range from Kinder to Year 6, boys and girls. Their circumstances are varied, often complex, and sometimes heartbreaking. The involvement of a mentor in making these children feel loved is truly invaluable!
Thankyou to all our wonderful Mentors: Barry Steele, Linda Streeter, Janette Richardson, Dave Hancock, Robyn Petty, Helen Palmer, Cathy Hinks, Angela Streeter, Julie Skribins & Cathie Smithers (Co-ordinator).
Could you spare an hour once a week to mentor a vulnerable child at Jannali Public? There’s a waiting list of kids, so we need more mentors!
