Once again in January, we ran our IGNITE youth program for students entering years 6-8 at school. This year we had just under 70 youth participating over the 5 days with the vast majority attending every activity.
Scott Balhatchet was our guest speaker for the week and he took the youth through what the Bible reveals about Jesus and who he is.
We looked at various titles in John 1 on the first day and over the next three days we explored three major roles that Jesus fills as God’s Prophet, Priest and King. The final study was a call for response with a powerful repentance illustration about recognising and responding to “turn around time”.
On the final day we had an open microphone where youth were free to come up and share something they had learned throughout the week. Many spoke about how their understanding of Jesus had grown with quite a few saying they had recognised it was time for them to turn around.
A number of parents have already provided feedback along the lines of “My child told me this was the best week of her holidays”. One student even said the boating day was the best day of her life!
With so many youth and leaders involved during the week, we were in need of catering help and were well served by a group of amazing parents who prepared and served plenty of delicious food and refreshments.
Activities included boating, bubble soccer, trek and swim, Taronga Zoo, a sleepover, and a visit to Skyzone after our planned activity was washed out.
You can view some excellent video clips of the activities from the first three days by clicking on these links.
Thank you to those who helped us with catering, transport, and boating.
Most importantly thank you to those who have been praying for IGNITE.
