How does our church give to others?

Our church is committed to local ministry – reaching the people around us, building each other and multiplying disciple makers.

However, God is global God; we want to make disciples of all nations and the needs and opportunities are endless. This is why alongside local ministry, we also promote world mission, partner with overseas missionaries, train people through JMAP and send people to serve in other places.

We also encourage generous financial support of ministries beyond ourselves. We do this in 4 ways.

First, we encourage and celebrate the initiative of individual members who give directly to many different people, causes and missionary projects.

Second, the Parish Council have selected particular causes that we actively ask members to consider supporting:

* Our link missionaries and the Church Missionary Society (CMS).
* The Jannali Board of Christian Education (JBCE)
* An annual overseas mission project (eg. ‘Buy a Buffalo’ in 2017).
* An annual Christmas appeal, “Toys n Tucker”.

Third, there are other causes we ‘promote’. This involves a more passive approach of giving some profile and making literature available. These include our Diocesan organisations (esp Moore College and Anglicare) and three Christian aid organisations: Barnabas Fund (for persecuted Christians), Compassion (for Christian child sponsorship) and Anglican Aid (for local and global aid projects).

Finally, each year the Parish Council also aims to give away 5% of general fund collections. In 2018 the budgeted allocations are for CMS $14,200, JBCE $7,600 and for a Diocesan fund established to purchase land for churches in new housing (‘greenfield’) areas of Sydney, $16,100.

Please give thanks that God has blessed us with the ability to be generous and partner with ministries beyond ourselves.

Neil
