Gong Men’s Day

Here are some of the Jannali Anglican men who went to the Gong Mens’ Day last Saturday (17th June). The other half were talking outside when the photo was taken. What made the morning valuable?

  1. It was a bargain and well organised.$25/$35 for a half day conference including a roast pork/beef lunch with chips and dessert. Dapto Anglican did a superb job of hosting us all.
  2. What a blessing to mix with about 300-400 men from other parts of ‘Sydney(!), and by ‘Sydney’ I mean the Illawarra, Cambelltown, the Southern Highlands, Shoalhaven and the Shire. We are all a part of the Wollongong Region in the Sydney Diocese of the Anglican Church.
  3. God’s word was presented so powerfully. David Jensen shared his testimony of walking from Jesus. His testimony is online. Please listen to it some time. Here is the link.  Both he and Ray Galea spoke so well from the book of Acts, challenging us from the life of Paul to take the life changing gospel of Jesus to all cultures and be optimistic about it.
  4. God’s word called us to action. Hear from some of our men:

Aidan (aged 45): “I was inspired to go much more confidently into my evangelism – Acts 28:28 opened my eyes!”

Joshua (aged 18): “A great encouragement, good biblical teaching, a call to spread the Gospel in everyday life”

David (aged 37): “A great chance to take a break from regular weekend activities to be reminded of the important role we have in this life, to make the most of every opportunity to spread the gospel while we “run towards our heavenly home”.”

Alex (aged 28): “I was really encouraged to trust in the power of God’s word to change people’s hearts. I was challenged to open the Bible with others and let the Word speak, rather than rely on my own ability (or lack thereof!) to be convincing or persuasive. Acts 28:28 tells us that God’s salvation has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will listen!”

Peter (aged 29): “An important time of reflection on our lives as Christian men, with lots of encouragement to start doing something for God, for our brothers and for the unsaved world now!”
