Two members of our Saturday Congregation have been absent for the last seven months, but they have been serving Christ overseas, literally on-the-seas.
Daniel and Jeanie Ough have been using their retirement, business coaching background and love for the gospel on board Operation Mobilisation’s largest ship, Logos Hope.
In recent months the Logos Hope has harboured in the Caribbean islands of Curaçao, Bonaire, Aruba and Jamaica. And since its commissioning in 2009, the crew have welcomed more than six million visitors on board and distributed as many books. I’ll quote from some of the Ough’s prayer emails.
“There are 400 volunteers on the ship from 60 countries. We feel so blessed to be here and to be surrounded by people of all ages who share our passion for Christian ministry.”
“The primary focus the Logos Hope is to share the gospel message. We do that in many ways, including through events, open to the public, that we host on board the ship and by visiting schools, orphanages, prisons, churches, rehab centres, hospitals, nursing homes, and other venues on shore.”
Here are a sample of two of their most recent prayer points.
- “We are still in need of skilled electricians and engineers to join the ship as volunteers. If you know of anyone who is interested in volunteering for a while, please let us know.”
- “Please pray that God will continue to arrange divine appointments for us as we meet with local people who come on board the ship here in the Bahamas, allowing us to offer the gospel and prayer for those who don’t yet have a personal relationship with God.”

Daniel and Jeanie are returning for a short break to support their daughter expecting her third child, but they will return. “We are about half way through our time on Logos Hope and it has been an amazing experience – hardly a day goes by without us sharing the gospel with visitors on a one-to-one basis – we also pray with them and we trust they will make a decision to follow Jesus.”
