Andrew Dalley has served Jesus in youth ministry at our church for the past 10 years. A serious dragons fan, “Dalley” as he is known, has an even higher priority in his life – seeing people connect with Jesus and grow to maturity in him.
In 2009 he started with a group of year 7 boys, and led them right through their school years. Since then he has been a key leader of our XII (year 12) and Fuse (years 6-8) groups.
Having now retired from youth leadership (to serve among young adults), I asked Andrew some questions…
Why 10 years in youth ministry? I have done it because it is a great ministry, an amazing way to share and teach God’s word and love to young people. It’s also a lot of fun.
What has kept you going? God really. Without Him nothing is possible. He has definitely given me the energy and drive to see his kingdom grow.
What have been the main joys? When you see someone turn to God and accept Jesus as their saviour, and then see how God changes them and works through them.
How have you personally grown through serving? Every time I prepared talks and studies from God’s word, I was learning something new, being challenged in so many ways or being rebuked in the way I live for God.
Any last words? It has been awesome to serve in such a great ministry. I am thankful for all the great opportunities that I have had to see so many people put their trust in God and I am also very thankful to God for all the supportive parents and fellow leaders supporting me over the past 10 years.
Please join me in giving thanks God for Andrew’s commitment to Jesus, for his faithful service, for his generous love for the youth of our church and for the way God has worked through him over the past 10 years.
