Church for Retirees

Neil Fitzpatrick   -

Are you able to attend church on a Thursday morning?

The first of our adult church meetings to re-gather was Thursday Church.

For the last few years Thursday church has been growing, as people have discovered the blessings of a very friendly service (from the Anglican prayer book), lots of interaction,  shorter sermons applied to the life-stage of the congregation, hearty singing, a wonderful team who love and serve all who come, and fantastic sit down morning teas.

One member drives up from Minnamurra each week to be there!

As we’ve regathered – some things haven’t changed. There is still the same joy in being together, hearing God’s word, and encouraging one another. This term the preaching is from Psalms, and each week we have an in depth interview with one of the members.

I love being at Thursday Church each week.

Obviously with our Covid-19 Safety plan, things are also currently different – with most wearing masks, no singing and no morning teas. Another major change is that residents from Mildred Symons House are no longer able to attend.

However, the building at Sutherland is only half full.  It would be great to see Thursday church flourishing as a congregation for retirees (younger as well as older).

Perhaps you, or someone you know, could join us.
