Baptism & Confirmation

Neil Fitzpatrick   -

God is at work among the young men and women of our church.

Over the last month I have had the privilege of getting to know 16 young men and women (from years 11 & 12) as they prepare for our service of baptism and confirmation.

The service will be held at Evening Church (6pm) on 22 March.

“Baptism” symbolises what God does in someone when he makes them a Christian. He washes us clean of our rebellion, adopts us into his family and pours out his Holy Spirit on us. Baptism is a sign of God’s invisible work in bringing someone to repentance and forgiveness in Jesus.

“Confirmation” is when those baptised as babies confirm for themselves the promises made on their behalf by their parents.

At the service on 22 March each one being baptised and/or confirmed will publicly declare their allegiance to Jesus, their rejection of all that is opposed to Him, and their commitment to the Christian Faith. Our regional bishop (Peter Hayward) will lead us in prayer to strengthen each one. Our Youth Minister, Cameron Hyslop will preach.

Those preparing for the night are – Daniel Agostini, Joshua Bubb, Aimee Denning, Alexandra Drury, Charlotte Heard, Ruth Hunnisett, Sarah Kelly, Elissa Kerr, Laura Kirkland, Patrick Musgrove, Emmy Rolland, Emma Schlenker, Bridget Shearsby, Wade Shearsby, Noah Stanton & Kathryn Steele.

This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate God’s work in the lives of these people, and to support them. Even if you can’t be at the service, please give thanks to God and pray that each one would continue to follow Jesus for the rest of their lives.
